The World Day of Peace is dedicated to the promotion of universal peace in the world. Pope John XXIII established the World Day of Peace in 1967.
It's observed January 1st each year and was first observed in January 1968.
World Day of Peace often has been an occasion on which the Holy Fathers make magisterial declarations of social doctrine.
The International Day of Peace was established by the United Nations General Assembly 1981. It is observed around the world September 21st each year. It is recognized globally as people participate in events and activities demonstrating that if people respect their differences and commit to getting along with each other; peace is possible across our world.
